the radio leads a feel good revolution¯
THE BAND LIST. Okay, I'm working on my ultimate band list, but this'll do for now.
I enjoy music w. good lyrics & a good beat. I'm not picky about genres, although I listen to indie, emo, folk, and stuff along those lines the most. The genres that I'm not that thrilled about are country and rap. Why? Well, I judge my music by how it makes me feel. I don't feel that connection w. those genres. I'm not saying that it's impossible for me to like a song within the genre, but it's rare. Another reason I don't like most songs within these genres is because of the use of poor grammar. Poor grammar annoys me. If I can't understand the song, I don't want to listen to it. Also, I don't like the lifestyle that is portrayed by each genre. Country music often embraces racism, being a "redneck", being poverty stricken trailor trash, white male domination, conservatism, being dumb and proud, and being close-minded. I can't relate to any of this. There are some country songs that don't have any of the above mentioned messages, and those are the ones that I'd probably listen to. Rap music often embellishes the degradation of women, the message of "I'm from the ghetto and proud", I'm a "pimp/playa/bling blinger", I do drugs and other crimes, I'm in a gang, all I care about is booty shaking and hoes, and most rap contains poor grammar. The way I see it, both genres degrade themselves, and I believe that you should better yourself, and not flaunt your faults. I'm not saying I don't give songs in either genre a chance, because I do. I listen to some rap and country, but none of the songs contain those said messages. There are songs and artists in my favorite genres that I don't even like. Another thing, if my favorite band gets on MTV, I don't whine and call them a sell-out. They are still the same band that's occupied my playlist. The way I see it, the more people that enjoy the music, the better. However, if the band gets on MTV, and they change their image or whatever, that's not cool. I just listen to the old stuff, and don't walk around proclaiming they are "sell-outs." Another thing that annoys me is when people diss bands, or judge people according to their musical taste. Grow up. Now. Seriously. If your favorite genre is different to mine, good. We can share. Learn a few things. If you're an asshole about it, fuck you. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would rather talk to someone who shares my interests, but just because you don't, doesn't make you less of a person. To each their own, right? If you're open-minded, and will swap, great, but if you're just going to shove music down my throat, and not give mine a try, fuck you. Also, people who lock themselves to a genre need to die..now. That's just being stupid and close-minded. I like music. All of it. There's some I like more than others, but you should always give stuff a chance. If you don't like it, fine. If you do, yay. Oh lord. What did I get myself into? I got on here to list a few favorites, and I get into a rant. :) Well, without further delay...the bands that I've been dancing too lately are:
